A US fluid ounce is 29.5735 mL. An Imperial fluid ounce is 28.4131 mL. The difference is small — about 4% — but it adds up in large volumes.
US recipes and beverage labels use US fluid ounces. UK and Australian labels may use Imperial fluid ounces. Always check which standard applies before converting.

How to Calculate Cylinder Volume in Ounces
Step 1: Measure radius (r) and height (h) in centimeters. Step 2: Calculate V = π × r² × h to get cm³ (which equals mL). Step 3: Divide by 29.5735 for US fluid ounces.
Example: A tumbler with r = 4 cm and h = 12 cm. V = π × 16 × 12 = 603.19 mL. In US fl oz: 603.19 ÷ 29.5735 = 20.39 oz. That's a standard 20-oz cup.
